How to connect to a Rust server by IP
Direct connect by address is the fastest way to join a server that is missing from the in-game browser or was found in our catalog.
Via the F1 console
Open Rust and press F1 to bring up the developer console.
Type a command like connect 123.45.67.89:28015 and press Enter. The game will start loading into the server.
Important: the command uses the game port, not the query port. These are separate UDP ports; putting the query port into connect will not work.
Where to get the address on this site
A server page has a Copy command button — it copies a ready connect string with the game port.
If the game port is not confirmed by our monitoring yet, the button is disabled and says so. We never substitute an unverified port.
If it does not connect
Check that the address has no extra spaces and that the server is reachable: the page shows the result and time of the latest check.
A stale status means no successful response for a while — the server may be restarting or wiping.
